The Return.

Ok. Now I am used to this. Coming back to my blog after months and writing something stupid- I am used to this. Anyways, I was sitting idle, doing nothing, so decided to check back. Anyways, I have been thinking on a new layout for the blog, and will begin to work for it in a few days.

Today I had the Jack Kilby Science and Technology quiz, where I failed to qualify for the second round. The cutoff was 18, and we answered 14. And out of those 14, I answered 13 myself. Reason being that my partner was pathetic. I only took him because he registered for me. But now, I regret my decision. :-(

I answered 13 myself.

Anyways, two teams from my school qualified- 'The Psychopathic Idiots Strike Yet Again 21' and 'Fifth Graders'. Eventually, both of them came 5th and 6th. The quiz was a little tough, but was very interesting. I'll upload the archives shortly.

The TCS IT Wiz is coming up on Saturday, the 27th.
Waiting for it eagerly.
And then, the Regional Maths Olympiad. Its on the 5th of December, and I have been preparing for it since November. I seriously want to qualify for it. But yesterday, Vaibhav gives me a shock, by saying,
Registrations closed yesterday.

Still, somehow I managed to register for it. :D

So, meet you later, I'm off to sleep. Feeling very sleepy in the evening, I don't know why.

My First MUN!

Ok, here's it. I'm finally going for a MUN conference!! MUN, Model United Nations, is a kind of a simulation of a real United Nations Conference, where students represent their respective alloted countries and discuss about a given issue. And Me is going for the Chennai Model United Conference, to be held on 29th- 31st of October. Actually, it's not a very big deal, but I have been dreaming to participate in it since I was a kid. Well, a still am a kid, but you get the jist, right?

Meanwhile, my exams are over. They were good (they always are, though the results are'nt), except for the fact that I screwed maths, big time. And I am going to my hometown for Durga Puja, to rest and enjoy the vacations. While the city gets screwed up as the Commonwealth Games arrive. They have and are seriously causing the city a lot of trouble. But one good thing has come out of all this, atleast for me. There's a Metro Station right next to my house, yipee!

I Also Have A Dream

I am sitting on the top of a hill, under the shade of a magnificent tree. There is a majestic waterfall in front of me, where the water is constantly churning to form froth. A bright sunlight is shining on this water to make it sparkle like a diamond, and a very faint breeze is blowing the crispy autumn leaves in the air. I’m writing my next book, after my first novel made me the youngest person to win the Man Booker Prize.. at just the age of 22! Just as I was thinking about my novel, suddenly a butterfly comes and sits on my lap. I keep my notebook aside.. and I begin to play with the butterfly. Dreams surely have wings!

Eternal Boredom

The title speaks itself- I'm terribly bored. Taken a week off from school, and absolutely nothing to do at home, except sitting on the computer and playing Spiderman Demo. Very Boring.

Well, there was this Janmashtmi yesterday, which is basically a festival to commemorate the birth of Lord Krishna. We (that is, my colony) celebrate this festival by organizing a Jhanki making competition, which basically means that various groups make jhanki's, or large scale representations of the life of Lord Krishna. Here are the final standings-

  • 1st Position- A Block 4th Floor ( My Block )
  • 2nd Position- C Block 3rd Floor
  • 3rd Position- A Block 3rd Floor and C Block 4th Floor.
Actually, this is quite useless, even though my team won. Though obviously I did'nt work. I've got better things to do, you see. Like sleeping, eating, making quiz papers etc. So you see, I'm a busy guy.

It is out!

Well, I'm talking about the Request for Proposal for the Asian Regional Space Settlement and Design Competition. It's quite complicated stuff, I know. Basically, the RFP's are out, and the team of my school (which unfortunately includes me) is quite excited about it. Though I don't find it exciting. Who wants more work burden on their shoulders? Anyways, it just means more work- for them. As I will obviously not work! I have got other work to do, you see. Like sleeping, studying for exams, making quiz papers. So you see, I'm quite a busy guy.

A Complete Waste of Time.

I am trying to find a site on the web which will make a website for me. I don't know why. Maybe because its quite cool to have your own web space, where you write and others read. Anyways, I have Dengue. Quite a long story- I went to Ahlcon Public School for a competition, and we had pizzas there. Next day, I had viral, and after 2 days I got food poisoning. When I went to the hospital to get the tests done, it came out to be Dengue. So I'm sitting at home and wasting away my time.

Which reminds me, my half yearly exams are going to start very soon. And I really need to start studying. But I don't want to. I am not that hopeless, you see.

You must have observed by now, that I am writing crap. Or rather, bullshit. Just like that fake IPL blogger was writing bullshit. So I guess, reading all this was a complete waste of time, for you. Just like writing all this was a complete waste of time, for me.

Today I saw a few wordpress blogs. They have more features and all, and the blogs are much better. Just thinking to change over to wordpress. But what's the point? My blog would anyways be always full of cobwebs (if you got the metaphor).

Columban Open Quiz 2010- Veni, Vidi, Whisky

Columban Open Quiz, the biggest interschool quizzing event in north India, rolled on this time on 30- 31 July. My team comprised of Raghav Minocha, Vaibhav Darbari, Utkarsh Agarwal, and ofcourse, yours truly. My School, DPS RK Puram, was sending on 5 teams this time from the school, compared to the 40 teams that went last year. And those 5 teams did not include my team. Sad. But we were determined to go for Columban. You see, we have been participating in COQ since the last 2 years. In 2008, we got 2 out of 40 in the prelims, and in 2009 we got 8 out of 40. So, we really had chances of qualifying in the prelims this time. So, we called up the president of the quizzing society of SCS, and after some talking, we finally got ourselves registered on an indivisual basis. Here's what happened in the quiz.

Day 1- We are supposed to report at 9:45 AM. And so we did. Apart from us, there was one more team who was going on an individual basis- The Things. So we assembled in front of the Edmund Rice Hall at 9:30. We then registered at aroung 10. My team no. was B-61, while The Things were B- 63. We went in the Edmund Rice Hall at around 11. The prelims started after 5 minutes, and we attempted around 15 of the 40 questions. I answered 4, Vaibhav 3, Utkarsh 3 and Raghav 1. While the others were guesses. The depression period started when we were'nt even able to answer a single audio- visual. But still, we qualified! We were on tied 8th position along with some other team. Then came the Quarter Finals. 4 teams from group B had qualified for the Quarters out of the total 10. So that was nice. In the quarters, the team of the Quizzing club president and all got 70 points, and topped. We answered 2, of which I answered both. :-). But still, we missed the semis by just 1 question, as if we had got one more question right, we would have got 30, and thus we could have qualified. There was a question whose answer was Mozilla Firefox, and we answered Mozilla. And got it wrong. Hence, could'nt qualify for the semis by just 1 question. :-(. But still, COQ this time was awesome, and we hope to do even better next time....

Money Made The Mare To Go

"Will you lend me your mare to ride a mile?"

"No, she is lame leaping over a stile."

"Alack! and I must go to the fair!"

"I'll give you good money for lending your mare."

"Oh, oh! say you so?"

"Money will make the mare to go."

Almost every aspect of life is today influenced by money. No wonder, the safest way to double your money is to fold it and keep it in your pockets...
